New coffee and shade trees have been planted in addition to regeneration of older trees.

Many of the older coffee trees have stopped producing berries and so there is a major emphasis on regeneration, with many plant nurseries, as well as extending the coffee trees into new areas. But this takes a great deal of investment, which is not always available, and would be helped by a greater degree of technical assistance.
